The take
Inflation cooled to 2.8% in June as gasoline prices fell 10% on the month following an interim Middle East ceasefire, pulling both of the Bank of Canada's core measures below 2%. The relief looks temporary: the conflict has since reignited and oil prices are already back up $14 a barrel from their lows.
